Gunjan Kunwar, is a physiotherapy student who created a sensation after winning Uttarakhand’s biggest title Himalayan Buzz Miss Uttarakhand 2022. Gunjan has lakhs of social media fans & work as a very successful influencer too. We recently spoke to her about her pageant journey & experience.
Let us know about your childhood and education?
I have been born and brought up in New Delhi. Pursued my primary education from the Frank Anthony Public School and Manava Bharati India International School. I am currently pursuing bachelors of physiotherapy from Manav Rachna University, Faridabad. I have been one of that student who was always keen about scoring good in class and was deeply interested in biology and taking up medicine as a career option.
Did you expect that win?
Well, to be honest I was not really sure of winning the title but always had that confidence within which could make me stand different from the crowd. It was a dream comes true. Something one always dreams of.
How did you celebrate your win?
I was overfilled with joy and happiness. Miss Uttarakhand 2022 and your name pops up. Woah, the feeling is still inexpressible but I am living with that feeling each and everyday and enjoying every bit of it.
What was the reaction of your friends and family?
My parents were emotional and so proud and happy to see me win. They were sitting right in front of me when my name was announced. It was a very emotional moment for me too. I went back to Delhi and was welcomed with a huge celebration at my place where all my friends and family gathered and celebrated my win.
What was the first thought that came to your mind when anchor announced your name as the winner?
The first thought would probably be that yes I did it. Chanted Om Namah Shivay and just went onto the stage with my eyes filled up in tears. I am still processing that what had just happened.
You a physiotherapy student, how did pageantry strike in your mind?
Yes I am pursuing bachelors of physiotherapy but I was also very much interested into fashion and had started fashion blogging soon after class 12 where I have amassed quite many audience on social media where I was told by many to participate in a beauty contest or to take up modelling and I was also quite driven by the fact that I would also want to try my luck in it.
Did you always want to be a Model or Actor? When did you decide to participate in Miss Uttarakhand & Why?
Well, to be honest I never really thought of taking acting or modeling as my career but this just happened with time, I was somewhere inclined towards this and back in December I decided to apply for Miss Uttarakhand 2022. Why miss Uttarakhand because these are my roots somewhere I belong from. Uttarakhand is my place, where my heart belongs.
How was your experience during Miss Uttarakhand 2022?
It was roller coaster ride, some days were good some days were hard for me but what kept me going were those small-small things which I would take as my motivation and start all over again. I got to learn so much in just five days. The fellow contestants were supportive, met so many people from different places. We really had a great time there.
Who was your biggest competition in Miss Uttarakhand 2022?
I believe you are your own competition, your struggles and all the hardships which you come through over the years. How beautifully you accept your flaws and change them into your strength.
What do you think were the judges looking at while deciding the winners?
I think one of the major criteria would be confidence and how beautifully you carry yourself in front of the audience, how happy and proud are you in your own skin.
Tell our readers something about your grooming habits.
My journey started soon after I got that confirmation mail for being one of the finalists, I couldn’t appear for the training sessions due to my exams schedule but my mentor and one of my major support during this entire journey Gaurav Sir helped me with everything so efficiently throughout those 2-3 months where I learnt to walk in those 5-6 inches heels. It was a task for me and almost took a month to ace that skill. I met everyone in person just four days before the finale but everyone welcomed me with open arms.
Any message to all the aspiring girls who dream of being Miss Uttarakhand 2022?
To all those beautiful girls aspiring to be next Miss Uttarakhand, this is a golden opportunity and a lifetime experience for you all. It gives you a platform to voice out your opinions, where you are heard! Just have that confidence in you, what makes you different from the crowd, embrace it.
