Mr India Universe 2016 Himanshu Shailey has been a cricketer and certified fitness trainer. Other than being valued for his looks he possesses some of the most remarkable qualities. Unlike his counterparts, you’ll see him grounded and polite exceptionally. After winning an international title there has been no looking back from his career as a model. Let’s get to know this charming supermodel from a short conversation we had.

Where are you from and where do you live currently?

I was born and brought up in Delhi although my roots start from Shal, Uttarakhand. Currently, I’m living in Delhi.

Tell us about your background, education, and childhood?

I am a single child to my mom and dad. My mother is a government servant and dad retired. I am a professional cricketer as well as a model. I had been part of the Indian team camp against Australia in 2013. Later I also got a chance to play for an IPL team pune warrior etc. An injury led me into modeling. I enrolled in Mr India Universe to do something. And grilling myself hard enough I won MISTER INDIA UNIVERSE 2016 pageant.

I was a science student, and I am a certified personal fitness trainer too. My entire childhood revolved around cricket.  Waking up at 4 am in the morning and following my strict fitness routine training, school, and then again practice. That was my childhood in short.

How did your career start?

I was depressed after suffering an injury and turned to model to get rid of the sense of being an idol. Along with that, I had always wanted to do something glamorous. I wouldn’t shy away from admitting, this hunger for fame and name and glamour that I’ve had. Soon I realized, this is the profession which pays you for looking good. The feeling of lights and eyes on your face is intriguing.

What was your first big break in the industry?

Well, I walked my first ever show for J J Valaya and Raghvendar Rathore. Following it soon I got a chance to be on the ramp for Manish Malhotra.

What has been your favorite job so far?

I love every form of fashion work. Hence all are favorite.

What is your dream modeling job?

To be a poster boy for the Indian team and relive being in the Indian team.

When you’re not busy modeling, what are some of your favorite things to do?

I like music. So I try to spend some time on guitar and try to get better with it. Not to forget my passion for bathroom singing.

If you weren’t a model, what would you want to do?

I’d be a cricket player in our country’s team.

Where is your favorite place to travel?

I’m a mood driven person. At times I want to go to places where there is music and I can dance till I die on the floor. Other times I want to escape away in nature. A single place will be hard to settle as a favorite spot.

What is your all-time favorite movie and why?

I like movies on friendship, goals, and music. To name some would be Iqbal, Rockstar, Dil Chahta Hai, Pyaar ka Panchnama and many more.

What’s the best thing about your hometown?

My people, my food, my air, I love everything about my hometown.

Which brand would you really love to model for?

Have not thought about it yet.

What are you obsessed with/about?

I’m obsessed with my face, my body, and me. I wanna look my best. I wanna live being my best.

Favorite things to do?

Spending time with my pals. We are a group of 5 and that’s my world. The group includes Nakul, Sachin, Naveen, Ashish and Himanshu (me).

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given in the modeling industry?

Well, it’s funny. I met someone and I was told that modeling is not for me. It’s for good looking people. I took that seriously and here I’m today!
