Manoj Singh was recently crowned Sportsfit By MS Dhoni Mr. North India 2019 which is the most prestigious competition in North India. Manoj is no stranger to the world of glam, glitz, and fashion. He is an experienced model who has walked for many famous fashion shows. Manoj hails from the Almora district of Uttarakhand but stays in Delhi. We caught up with him to talk about his life after winning this coveted title and also discussed what drives him and his mantras for success.

Congratulations on winning Mr. North India 2019. How are you celebrating your victory?

Gratitude for your love and respect, I am still trying to think that feeling of Mr. North India. It is an honor for me to have a title with ‘India’ before my name.

How did your family and friends react to your victory?

They all are still celebrating this title. My entire family and friends have been very supportive of me. It was a great journey from common boy to Mr. North India. Everyone had full faith in my abilities.

What was the first thought that came to your mind when they announced your name as the winner?

Everyone’s face is coming in my mind. I couldn’t wait to sit on the couch of my house to tell my whole journey to all my family, friends and fans. This is my first ever title for me which I have got through years of hard work. I have realized that success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes consistent efforts for a long time to be successful.

You can be honest about it, did you expect that win?

I don’t believe in competition. Win or loss does not bother me. I always take it as a lesson. Every situation in life teaches you something. Success takes time and deep down I know that it’s payback time from my failures and hard work.

How was your experience during Mr. North India 2019 pageant?

It was a great experience. Experience is the best teacher. I learn from every contestant. Every contestant has his own specialties. All judges are great personalities. I am glad to be part of this pageant. But the real journey starts after winning this title. Now I don’t just represent myself, I have to represent this prestigious title.

All the finalists literally stayed together for more than a week, how was the bonding with other boys?

All are quite good, talented and deserving candidates. I felt like home with all the contestants. We shared a great bond with each other and there was a feeling of camaraderie. We are still in contact with each other and are happy how everyone is doing great professionally after this wonderful exposure.

Who will you say is your idol or mentor?

I am blessed with two women in my life – My mother and grandmother. My bond is stronger with my grandmother. My mom is my mentor. She is the one who sculpted me. I have seen her work for 24*7 for her family. She inspired me every single day to be courage and leads me for my success

Who was your biggest competition in Mr. North India 2019?

I don’t think its competition. I take it as a lesson to learn something so that I am more prepared.  I am my own competition. I have a bit of stage fright so this competition helped me in that aspect.

What do you think were the judges looking at while deciding the winners?

Judges wanted to see the confidence in the contestants.

Did you always want to be a Model? How long you are doing modeling and If not a Model what would you be?

I always wanted to be a model since my childhood. But the lack of knowledge was the biggest challenge for me. Professionally, I started my modeling career last year. I had no second option. I was totally focussed on my one and only goal – Modelling.

Lastly, any message to all the aspiring boys who dream of being Mr. North India?

Believe in yourself and don’t try to be anyone else. Keep it simple. Sometimes, we think too much and feel too little. More importantly, be humble, stay healthy and get good physique Work on your personality. It is very important to be nice and respectful. Follow your passion with dignity. Your journey will be tough so be prepared to learn at all times. Last but not least, accept yourself. At the end of the day, everyone can’t be model or Mr. India but you must be your own role model.
