On 21st April, 2017, Mumbai witnessed Bollywood stars and outstanding musicians who graced the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award on Friday night. This gracious award is given to a film artist for his or her tremendous and outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian Cinema. This prestigious award was introduced in 1969 by government in recognition of contribution made by film personalities in the growth of Indian Cinema. Devika Rani, was the first ever artist who received this award.
This year, the two amazingly talented celeb stars from Uttarakhand who are gaining heights in our very own Bollywood, have been honoured with Dada Saheb Phalke Award. Dada Saheb Phalke Excellence Award was felicitated to, Jubin Nautiyal of Uttarakhand in the category of Best Playback Singer. Urvashi Rautela of Uttarkhand as well, who made her debut in Bollywood in 2013 with the movie “Singh Saab The Great”, has added another feather to her cap by winning Dada Saheb Phalke Excellence Award in the category of Best Debutant Actress, at a function that was held in Mumbai.
“This award has made my dream come true.”, says Jubin Nautiyal, wherein, Urvashi says, “This is a huge honour for me. I never expected this award to come my way. It was an honour receiving this award with the likes of Aishwarya Rai and Hema Malini on the dais. This is a huge achievement for me. I am truly humbled.”
Jubin was awarded in his category for the film starring Hritikh Roshan and Yami Gautam, named “Kaabil”, for the title track of the film, “m tere Kaabil hu….. ya tere kaabil nahin”, whereas Urvashi also was awarded in her category for the same film, for the spell bounding and outstanding performance in the new version of the old song, “saara zamana… haseeno ka deewana”.
Along with Chitra Productions, the award ceremony was held on the auspicious occasion of respected Dada Saheb Phalke’s 148th birth anniversary, the father of Indian Cinema. On this occasion Jubin was given this award by Dada Saheb Phalke’s grandson, Chandra Shekhar.
For your further information, both artists are natives of Uttarakhand. Jubin is from Jaunsaar, whereas Urvashi’s hometown is Kotdwar. Even after reaching to such heights n Bollywood, both of the artists still love their hometown, Uttarakhand, same as before and they keep visiting it from time to time.
