Kainchi Dham is a temple cum ashram situated in the lush green atmosphere of Kumaun hills, located at 38 km from Nainital. It was inaugurated in June 1964. The ashram was compiled by Neem Karoli Baba. The place holds a Lord Hanuman temple and an ashram. The place is worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. Many legends visited this place to develop a better life ahead and to have a better mental level. It is also believed that Neem Karoli Baba was an incarnation of Lord Hanuman.
It was sometime in 1962 when Neem Karoli Baba (Maharaj Ji) called Shri Poornanad of Kainchi village while he himself waited sitting on parapet wall by the roadside near Kainchi. When he came, they refreshed the memories of their first meeting which they had 20 years back in 1942. They discussed the place around. Maharaj Ji wanted to see the place where Sadhu Premi Baba and Sonbari Maharaj had lived and performed Yagyas. The forest was cleared and Maharaj Ji asked for the construction of a rectangular platform covering the Yagyashala. Maharaj Ji contacted the “conservator of forests” and took possession of the requisite land on lease.
The regulations and rules for the ashram are highly strict and without permissions of the higher authorities no one is allowed to visit the ashram. Back in the times when Maharaj Ji was alive Steve Jobs visited Kainchi Dham for a span of 1 month to preserve positivity in him, the result was commendable, later he advised Mark Zuckerberg also to visit the Ashram and the same thing happened with him too; both filled with rejoice and a very flourishing positive vibes. Both the legends were very thankful to Neem Karoli Baba. Pictures of them are hanging on the walls of the temple . people are associated with the ashram for more than 30-40 years.
