Amit Minocha’s professional outlook reflects a blend of international exposure and the grounded sensibility of Dehradun. Born and raised in the city, he studied at Doon Culture Centre School, now known as Heritage School, before pursuing hotel management at IHM Bengaluru, graduating in 2000. His career took him beyond India when he joined Carnival Cruise Lines as a sommelier. Further wine training in Napa Valley, California, added a global dimension to his understanding of service, quality, and guest experience.

Minocha often credits Dehradun’s school culture for shaping his communication skills and professional confidence. For decades, the city’s institutions have carried a national reputation, and that environment instilled in him a sense of poise and attention to detail that later became central to his work in hospitality.

The idea for Maldevta Farms emerged from a personal experience. While in Dehradun with his wife to celebrate their first wedding anniversary, Minocha found it difficult to locate a place that allowed couples or families to spend time without feeling rushed or uncomfortable. Restaurants offered food but little privacy or ease. That gap led him to imagine a resort where guests could relax at their own pace, without being asked to leave once a meal was over.

Maldevta Farms was created around that simple but distinctive idea. Designed as a safe, open, and welcoming space, it quickly resonated with long-time Dehradun residents who saw in it a reminder of the city’s quieter, more gracious past. The resort has now been operating for over 15 years.

Personalisation has remained a defining principle. Events are tailored to individual preferences, ensuring guests feel valued and well looked after. Minocha has also maintained strict standards for catering, with an uncompromising focus on ingredient quality.

Looking ahead, his focus is on positioning Maldevta Farms as a destination wedding venue. The objective is to offer couples a setting that combines natural surroundings, attentive service, and a sense of unhurried hospitality that reflects both global training and local character.
