Shikhar Gupta grew up in Dehradun in a close-knit business family where discipline, respect for people, and consistency were part of everyday life. From an early age, he was exposed to conversations around customers, service, and operations, which naturally sparked his interest in hospitality. While his formal education helped develop structured thinking, Gupta credits most of his learning to hands-on experience. Working on the floor, interacting with guests, and managing teams taught him resilience, adaptability, and the importance of creating real value.

Hotel Saffron Leaf was founded by his family in 2014 with a clear intention to build hospitality spaces rooted in warmth, quality, and dependable service. What began as a single venture gradually expanded into multiple concepts across cafés, bakeries, fine dining, and hospitality formats. Each brand was designed to offer guests more than just food, focusing instead on a consistent and well-rounded experience. Over the years, the group established a reputation for premium products, honest service, and operational discipline.

Gupta formally stepped into an active leadership role in 2019. His priority was to professionalise the business and prepare it for sustainable growth. He introduced structured standard operating procedures across outlets, strengthened financial controls, streamlined kitchen and service coordination, and built standardised inventory and production systems. Training and accountability frameworks were also put in place to ensure teams could perform consistently as the business expanded. The shift was from an operator-driven model to a process-driven organisation.

Looking ahead, Gupta’s vision is to develop Saffron Leaf into a multi-brand hospitality group with a presence beyond Dehradun. Plans include expansion across cafés, patisserie formats, delivery kitchens, boutique hospitality, and experiential dining concepts. Asset-light partnerships and design-led projects are also being explored. His long-term focus remains on building brands that combine scale with quality, and systems with the personal touch that defines strong hospitality.
