Television actress Priyanka Kandwal from Uttarakhand will soon be seen in a daily soap. The new show will have her playing the role of a Muslim girl. It will be telecasted on Star Plus at 7:30 pm IST.
She will be portraying the character of Mariya Khan, elder sister of the protagonist. Earlier she appeared in serials like Pavitra Rishta starring Sushant Singh Rajput. Priyanka also worked in many South Indian movies.
She expressed her excitement about playing the role of a Muslim girl for the first time. During Dainik Jagran interview Priyanka Kandwal revealed that the show revolves around a Muslim family. The main character of the story is a little girl named Mariyam Khan. The two will depict the love and bond shared by sisters. Their relationship shown in the serial will be of secret keepers and support systems of each other.
Talking about her character, Mariya Khan, the Uttarakhand actress revealed exciting details. Mariya isn’t a career oriented girl and instead of a fashionista. She wants to get married to a nice guy and is always decked up looking her best, or trying to do so! Not failing in manners she is polite and behaves respectfully with everyone. Priyanka expressed her difficulties playing the role of a Muslim girl.
The story is weaved around a Muslim house and so the script had many Urdu words. To understand and do justice to her role, Priyanka interacted with many Muslim families. She also watched Pakistani television shows to adopt their style. Researching more about her characters setting she learnt about Ramadan and Eid, and how Muslims lead their lives.
Currently, she is only focusing on Mariyam Khan Reporting Live. The show will be telecasted every day at 7:30 pm on Star Plus. In her previous daily soaps roles, she played the character of Dr Gauri in Pavitra Rishta and in Jana Na Dil Se Dur.
