The women of Uttarakhand have brought glory not only to the state but to the entire nation. Never have they missed a chance in any sector to prove themselves best in the nation. The State Commission for Women decided to reward these women. Above mentioned awardees include women who have contributed significantly to the state. The award ceremony was organized by the State Commission For Women. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat rewarded the five achievers and spoke in their praise acknowledging their every effort. He went on to talk about how the state government works to encourage and support women. The efforts are fruiting and yet more is ongoing to have more such women achieve and outshine the name of Uttarakhand. The award was a memento (Smriti Chinha) to recognize and cherish their tireless efforts forever.

Mangla Mata
The Hans Foundation aims to help and provide basic facilities in remote regions. Establishing schools and hospitals in hilly terrain to provide employment and services to the distant is their mission. Mangla Mata the founder, was rewarded for her efforts to prevent abandonment of the hill areas. She is responsible for generating innumerable employment opportunities. Her foundation has helped many to survive and flourish in Uttarakhand.
Basanti Bisht
Jagar singer Basanti Bisht was also one of the acclaimed awardees. She had received Padma Shri last year on the Republic Day. Carrying forward the tradition of Jagar she is guarding the roots of Uttarakhand’s heritage. She is renowned as Basanti Devi Bisht. Kalpana Chauhan was also awarded for redefining the Pahari songs. Her compositions gave a new identity to Pahari songs.
Harshvanti Bisht
Mountain climber Harshvanti Bisht took part in Everest climb in 1984. She received Arjuna Award in 1981. Later she started the Save Gangotri Mission to protect the river and its tributaries. The state government decided to reward her for her efforts mail both the tasks.
Urvashi Rautela
Ruling the fashion and film industry the most popular actress Urvashi has made the state proud. It was her rise as Miss Universe that brought her to fame and her efforts continued the saga. She has been part of many disaster recovery campaigns. Her efforts brought the help of many NGOs and other organizations for the people.
Anukriti Gusain
Anukriti is another model who represented India in Miss Asia Pacific. She also won titles during Femina Miss India. Talks about her talent and beauty are widespread. Her achievements were the buzzing news for months together. She was also awarded by the state along with the others.
