The former chief minister and Haridwar MP, Lok Sabha Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank' s novel is going to be adapted into a Uttarakhandi film. It is being produced by the Himshree production house.

Recently Hema Malini graced the Sparsh Ganga event in Haridwar. The beautiful actress from southern India is now a leading politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janta Party. She has a personal inclination towards the state of Uttarakhand. The actress turned politician keeps visiting the place for official and nonofficial trips.

After the event Sparsh Ganga, she was approached by the well known Garhwali-Kumaoni film director Ganesh Viran for the lead role in the movie ' Major Nirala'. The actress was delighted on the proposal and accepted the offer without any further questions. 

She also expressed her love for Uttarakhand. She has specially visited the place twice on the request of the former chief minister Dr. Pokhriyal.

Director Ganesh Viran had all praises for Hema Malini who has been awarded Padma Sri in 2000. He said that Hema Malini starring in the Uttarakhandi movie 'Major Nirala' will prove to be a boon for the local cinema. Also, the local artists will get a recognition after they share the screen space with the once leading actress of her time.

Hema Malini is involved in a lot of charitable and social events. Her this decision to star in a local movie is another step towards winning hearts.
